Outside my window… it’s dark and cold. The cloud has settled, and I can’t see the city lights. We’re expecting more snow tonight. I’m glad I’m inside.
I am thinking… about sinking into clean sheets tonight.
I am thankful… for a quiet evening alone after a busy week, and for a whole day together tomorrow with no plans.
In the kitchen… the sink is shined, the floor scrubbed, and the kettle on. The smell of freshly baked bread reminds me to rescue the loaf from the bread machine. My plan to make flapjacks tonight seems less important now.
I am wearing… a scruffy fleece, and jeans covered in paint – gardening clothes (although I didn’t make it as far as the garden this afternoon).
I am creating… a purple scarf in the shape of a cat.
I am going… no further than the sofa tonight. Hot chocolate, knitting, and Sherlock Holmes.
I am wondering… what tomorrow will bring. It’s a ‘no quibble’ day – one of us arranges a day (or a weekend) and the other enjoys an experience they wouldn’t usually choose themselves. It’s my turn to be surprised.
I am reading… Permaculture Magazine, which arrived today. Unusually, I don’t have a book on the go.
I am hoping… that our local library isn’t closed. It was National Libraries Day today, and I spent the morning there planting seeds with children, and building a raised bed to grow veg outside. It’s a fantastic community hub, and it was wonderful to see so many people there today.
I am looking forward to… a weekend in London with a gorgeous group of ladies. A day playing with the London Symphony Orchestra. A week off work, whatever we do with it. A long awaited summer holiday in Orkney.
I am learning… sight singing. Thirty two days til my flute exam, eek!
Around the house… hoovered floors, clean mirrors, tidy surfaces. And piles of things to be put away, six months worth of dust, and unwashed pans. I’m not perfect.
I am pondering… what to plant in my new raised bed (now finished – photos soon!) and whether to build a few more. I’m thinking a bed entirely filled with ox eye daisies would be lovely.
A favorite quote for today… ‘one thing at a time’
One of my favorite things… curling up at the end of a long day, knowing you don’t have to get up for anything in particular in the morning.
A few plans for the rest of the week: A conference at work, and an exciting training course. A voluntary event, accidentally organised for Valentine’s Day (oops). Pancake Day on Tuesday. Meeting two different friends for flute playing.
Joining in with the Simple Woman’s Daybook today – why not pop over and have a read and maybe join in yourself?
I liked this very much. Hope your Sunday is as good as your Saturday.
Ahhhh…lovely! Have a fantastic day tomorrow – fingers crossed that snow doesn’t stop play!
